Giving birth should be a natural, calm experience.

the natural experience

you've been waiting for

"Giving birth is a natural, wonderful process.  She should be as comfortable as possible and offered options to enhance her experience."

Clara Surowitz, MD FACOG, Medical Director

As long as Mom’s comfort falls within the parameters of safety, it will always take priority over the staff’s convenience.

Our seasoned staff is dedicated to creating a safe atmosphere for moms to have the birth experience they want and deserve.

"Mariflor delivered my third child.  I had never used a midwife before and was nervous.  I can easily say that it was one of the most special experiences of my life!  I never could have dreamed that a practitioner would attend to me with such care, continuously rubbing my back into the wee hours of the morning.  I was blown away by her level of care!"

A Different Kind of Birth Experience

The Trū Birth Center gives women who would prefer a more natural setting for giving birth a new option, and provides them with the ultimate in comfort and safety.

The design takes the feel as far away from the cold, sterile environment of a hospital as possible.  It's a safe and warm environment to bring a new baby into the world.

Safe Care in a Spa-like Setting

The feel is more spa than hospital.  The colors are muted and homey; a roaring fireplace faces a comfy-looking couch and a large bathtub squats in the corner. The light fixtures are striking and modern yet still give off a warm glow. The entire effect is serene and calming.

Hospitals are loud, bright places; Trū Birth Center is quiet and peaceful, not exactly the feel of the hustle and bustle of a busy L&D unit.    There are no complicated admittance procedures, frequent turnover of caregivers, or invasive procedures that often disrupt a laboring woman’s progress.

Instead, when a laboring woman shows up at the birth center, she’ll be greeted by a tranquil environment staffed by a small team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing the best possible care.

Private, Comfortable & Personalized

Once mom is admitted, she’ll be free to make herself comfortable in one of the beautiful birthing rooms. Doulas, coaches and family members will be welcome as well.

Here are some examples: moms don’t have to have an IV or continuous monitoring; moms can labor in their own clothing or listen to whatever music they want; dim the lights, light the fireplace...

Balanced, Nurturing Approach

Trū Birth Center is based on a midwifery model of care, which calls for a nurturing, hands-on approach during labor, with fewer interventions than a hospital model of care.  Midwives typically employ techniques like massage, laboring in water, positive emotional encouragement and changing positions. Births will be attended by highly-experienced doctors and midwives, and assisted by Labor & Delivery trained nurses.

After delivery, an experienced nurse weighs, measures and evaluates the baby. The new mother typically stays at the center around six hours after giving birth, and baby rooms with mom.  Licensed baby nurses are on premises at all times to offer assistance with childcare. The center has a more relaxed approach towards outside visitors.

Trū even has a transfer arrangement to the world-class retreat for mothers and newborns.  All Tru Moms receive a complimentary one night stat at the LaIsah Resort, conveniently located in Lakewood.  It's a great option for women who prefer to rest up before returning home.

Care continues with follow up home visits by nurses to make sure mom and baby are doing great.

The Facility

The birth center’s luxurious birthing suites feature comfortable beds and birthing tubs, as well as amenities like fire places, and big picture windows facing a lush forest. Soothing.  Elegant. Peaceful. Spacious. Its design creates a comfortable, private, and welcoming feel.

Yet, with all this, safety remains the top priority in the facility’s design and location.  Important medical equipment is tucked discreetly behind cabinet doors, always available if needed. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood on the border of Brick and Lakewood, it’s only minutes away from the nearest hospital for safety.
